1. Methods and characteristics of process
The aim of corn cleaning is to remove all non-raw materials such as iron, stone and stem, to lay the foundation of normal operation of equipment and improvement the quality of starch milk.
1.2 Corn steeping
Steeping is the key process in corn starch production, directly influence flour yield and quality of corn starch. Its purpose is to change physical and chemical properties and the structure of endosperm, weaken the starch coupling, reduce the strength of the corn grain, extract soluble substance and avoid microbial breeding.
1.3 Sulphurous acid preparation
Sulfur burning issues sulfur dioxide, then using absorption tower for secondary absorption and get sulphurous acid. Acid concentration is guaranteed by the secondary absorption. And it can not only reduce the loss of sulfur dioxide but also alleviate environment pollution.
1.4 Corn crushing and germ separating
After steeping, convey corns through stone collector to wet corn storage bucket by wet corn transfer pump, then lease part of starch by 2-time crushing and grinding and separate germ from milk, and then into the fine grinding process.
1.5 Pin type grinding
After going through pressure curved sieves, starch milk and crude starch slurry enter into the starch separation process after mixing; oversize materials enter into impacting grinder (or pin type grinder) for fine grinding to dissociating free starch which are attached to fiber in maximum limit.
1.6 Fiber separating and washing
Slurry after fine grinding enter fiber sink, mixed with fiber washing water and go through pressure curved sieve together and get raw starch milk. This raw starch milk and the raw starch milk going through the sieves before fine grinding mingle, then enter into starch separating process. In the meanwhile dry the oversized fiber and residue by screw extruder.
1.7 Stone removal and protein separating
Crude starch enters into the thickener and gets gluten protein, after drying will get protein powder and sold as product.
1.8 Starch washing
After washing by disk separator it will get pure starch milk, and after drying and dehydration, and sieving by end product sieves to increase the fineness of starch, then calculating and packing.
1.9 Germ washing, dehydration and drying
Germ after drying will be sold to oil mills nearby as by-products.
1.10 Corn slurry
Mix dilute corn slurry, wet fiber and germ cake, after drying sell them as feed, or without drying sell them to antibiotic enterprise as nutrient medium's nutrient solution in terms of liquid.
2. Major equipment description
A. Grind: fine crushing after removing germ from the broken corn. Main feature: strike fibers out at high speed, not only decrease starch content attached on fiber, but also won't make fiber excessive crushing. Can keep the granularity of fiber and facilitate material sieving.
B. curved sieve: divided into Gravity curved sieve and Pressure curved sieve. Gravity curved sieve is mainly used to dehydrate steeping corn and wash germ, pressure curved sieve is mainly used to wash fiber residue. Main feature: high efficiency, good sieving effect, simple construction, no moving part, high reliability, convenient operation and maintenance.
C. Disk separator: for separating protein, being the core of the starch refining equipment. Disk separator adopts top - suspended twirling, the reliability of drive disk assembly is increased by installing above drum.
D. Vacuum suction filter: mainly used for gluten dehydration, can effectively extract dry materials from gluten water, is advantageous to the process water recycling and reduce environment pollution causing by sewage disposal.
E. Hydrocyclone separator: simple construction, small occupation, high efficiency, easy operation and maintenance. Can be used for removing stones, separating germ, washing starch and many other working procedures.
F. Pipe bundle drier: used for drying of by products, such as germ, protein and fiber. This kind of drier has advanced technology, and is widely used in starch industry.
